About Tactile Artworks & Linda Brant-Malm
A Journey of Art, Vision, and Inclusivity
Tactile Artworks was born from a passion for both art and accessibility. Founded by Linda Brant-Malm, a Minnesota-based artist, our mission is to redefine how art is experienced. After a distinguished career in theatrical costume and visual design, Linda's personal journey with vision loss inspired a new artistic path. In 2016, she launched Tactile Artworks to create a space where everyone, regardless of sight, can connect with art in a meaningful and personal way.
“Tactile Artworks is part of the pioneering movement to introduce tactile art to the world. Do you know what art feels like? Whether you are blind or sighted, here is your chance. Please touch, feel, caress, and handle!”
— Linda Brant-Malm
Creating Art That Tells a Story
Each of our presentations and art pieces is a handcrafted narrative. Linda, an expert storyteller, uses a blend of inspiration, empathy, and design to address the emotional journey of living with vision loss. Our work explores profound themes of fear, isolation, adapting to change, and finding hope. Through our unique, hands-on experiences, we invite participants to not only "see" art through touch but also to share their own stories and gain new perspectives on life.
Our Commitment to the Minnesota Community
As a proud Minnesota organization, we are committed to enriching our local community. We partner with schools, businesses, and nonprofits throughout the state to provide interactive, educational, and healing art experiences. Our presentations and residency programs, including those offered in partnership with COMPAS, are tailored to foster a sense of connection and understanding among diverse groups, from early elementary students to older adults and educators.
Linda’s Professional Background
Linda's artistic approach is informed by a diverse professional background. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Design from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, she has a long history of bringing characters and stories to life. Her experience as a Pediatric Seating Technician also instilled a deep understanding of designing for specific needs, a skill she now applies to creating accessible art. This unique combination of theatrical flair and practical design expertise allows her to craft truly unforgettable presentations.
“Linda shares her passion for interactive art and tells her own personal story with vision loss along the way. It is wonderful to see how Linda connects with the group thereby allowing them to share their experience and ask questions freely.”
— Sue Bauer, Community Service Specialist at Vision Loss Resources, St. Paul, MN— Susan Anderson, Associate Director of Programs at Vision Loss Resources, Minneapolis, MN
